Thought you might be interested to know that there is a new gardening show starting in January 2007. Its presented by Carol Klein and is called "Grow your own veg". It starts on 5th January at 8.30pm on BBC2. Apparently its filmed in association with the RHS and features 4 of their gardens including Wisley and Hyde Hall. Each of the 4 gardens has assigned a piece of land 10ft x 10ft as veg plots to see what you can grow on a small garden.
Should be interesting.
Unfortunately I`ve just realised I`ll miss the first one as I will be on a yoga teacher training course that weekend. Anyone willing to video it for me?

i shall miss the first one or two, we fly to the canaries for a fortnight earlyish on new years day, perhaps its time i learnt how to programme the video recorder

Dear Seedling, thats one for the diary, they have done well to find enough to film for a series if the plots are that small.
But there again i don't know everything.

Thanks for the update. Have been terribly organised and note in my computerised diary. Think those with small plots will be especially interested to see what they come up with.

No promises but I have a DVD recorder sitting doing nothing. If I can master the controls almost anything can be done by that machine e.g. a 'library copy' of the whole series is possible, once set it would be automatic.
10' x 10' is a bit small!

The book isn't on release until February 2007. I'm sure it's a new programme.

Piglet, what about Ryton? I don't remember much I'm afraid.

From what I`ve read its a new programme. It was mentioned in this weeks "Garden News" paper. Even if it does turn out to be a repeat I havent seen it before so I`d like to watch it

I can confirm it is a new series.
It is transmitting every Friday from January 5th - February 9th, BBC2, 8.30pm.
Only one of the RHS gardens ( Harlow Carr) worked up a 3m x 3m plot to see what can be grown in a space that most people can afford to dedicate to veg ( that was the thought behind the plot - and not everyone has the time or knowhow to manage an allotment. It was thought that for many it's best to start small, get it (hopefully) right and then move on up)
All RHS gardens will do the same in 2007.
The series is based at Carol Klein's garden in Devon with frequent trips to peoples veg plots to see how they are getting on. There are some beautiful and informative films made at various locations and stories around the UK.
The book is due out early Feb to accompany the series.
You can even meet some of the contributors at all the RHS Gardens on Feb 10th when the gardens are open to all for free. Yes, RHS Gardens open for free when their experts will be on hand to help out wherever possible.There are also some free veg growing starter packs available.
Well worth the licence fee on its own!
