Watercress update

I have spoken on this subject several times before and this is all available from a simple search.
The point of this mailing is to give a few tweaks of technique.
The current state of affairs in my polytunnel plantation is that growth has almost stopped now and the two beds that we were picking are finished, indeed the first has been cleared after three pickings and the main stems of the second one are rotting away. Fortunately I have plenty more plants raised as cuttings that will give results in the New Year. I tried more seedlings, also sturdy single shoots rooted straight into pots of multi-purpose compost and the latter is by far the best. The oldest of the new plantings also has many sideshoots with generous root systems on the surface, these too will be used as new plants.
Other crops being cut now are polycress (from saved seed), rocket, pak choi and a few Montia perfoliata (winter Purslane) self-sown. I made the mistake of not starting any in August, later sowings have a long way to go.
