Mr Potato Head

As compo has spotted, I've been testing a new look for the forum...*

So, I'd like to hear from you what would make it easier / simpler / nicer /more accessible for you all to use. :)

Feel free to comment on anything, from the size of the text through to the placing of menus / buttons etc.

I might not be able to instigate all your recommendations, as I'm restricted by what this system is capable of, but I'll try my best! I'll also try and explain my rationale for most of the changes too (to show the method in my madness!) ;)

--------------------------------------------------

* Before any of you complain, if you don't like the new look, you'll be able to keep this one. Just make sure your 'Board settings' in your profile, are set to 'Subza'. The new look is 'Wimpole' (although you won't be able to see any changes immediately, as I'm still testing!)

Hi Mr PH,
I'm with Richard on this. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it.
One plea is that whatever you do please do not make the type any smaller as I sometimes have difficulty as it is and there are those amongst us that who I am sure have worse sight than me. The time to worry though is when I call you love!!!

Hello Mr PH
I've changed my profile but can't spot the differences!!!

John

Ooops! Just read your posting again and see that you're still testing.

I am more than happy with the old or current layout, having been one of the few people, who in an apparently mental unstable moment tested the trial system, I did not like it all, and I usually welcome new things, it was too small and not clear enough for me...........

Compo
If I am not on the plot, I am not happy.........
Mr Potato Head

Just to clarify...

1. What Compo saw was the installation files, not exactly what it'll look like in the end.

2. You'll be able to keep this 'look' by setting your profiles 'Board settings' to 'Subza'. (Although the default setting for the site will soon be the new one.)

3. I won't begin fully testing the 'Wimpole' look until later this week, so you won't see any changes.

Oh, by the way JB, I'm from Yorkshire, everyone gets called 'love'... :?
Mr Potato Head

* I know I'm off topic, but shouldn't Compo's signature be 'grow it, share it, eat it'? I'm not sure I like the order it's in at the moment

Dear Mr Potato Head, i'm sure there's people on here who will soon let you know when you have got it wrong. :D
I must admit, i'm a bit of a stick in the mud as well.
Now if you had got a personal secretary you could spare, that would be a different matter.
Especially if she had green wellies. :D
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I'm afraid I'm with the others - I like it as it is! I find it very user-friendly and easy to pick up, speaking as a newbie.

Yes, I'm very happy with the current layout but certainly wouldn't want the font size any smaller. I also confess to hating change for change's sake. If I go into a supermarket (which I try and avoid as much as possible) and they've moved everything around and I can't find anything I'm filled with rage and frustration. Websites which continually change have the same effect one me ! You must think we're a very conservative bunch, but actually this means you're doing a good job!

It would be nice to have the inter fora navigation improved, but I guess that won't be covered by look and feel?

Why have you stopped the artistic monthly theme?
