I would like to move my autumn fruiting raspberries to another plot. Should i wait until February when they are dormant and cut them to ground level before I move the roots or should I do something else? Will they survive if I move them? They`ve been in for one year and are still fruiting now. Help please.

Hi chuck, if you wait until December which is the time to cut the canes down, that would probably be the best time to transplant them as the pruning and transplanting is over in one hit.

If however you need to move them now, you can (I have done so successfuly)but it may be prudent, again, to cut them down at the same time. Take as much rootball as you can and put plenty of rotted manure or compost in the hole ready for next year.
Kindest Regards, Piglet
