I haven't been following the forum for a while cos we're in the process of moving house and I haven't got a garden at the moment!!! So forgive me if someone has already talked about this ...
I am currently watching James Martin Digs Deep on UK TV Food - he has fulfilled a childhood dream of growing his own veggies.
I've missed some of the progs, but it's really good, cos he's a real novice and he's going through all the 'awe and wonder' that we all know from growing our own food. It's interspersed with cooking recipes and hints, etc. I'm really enjoying it!!
Anyone else watching??? I think it's all a bit 'clean' - not like my lottie used to be! But nice to watch.

I watched one last night for the first time. It was really nice to see his enthusiasm and his delight when something produced a crop. However its a shame that he was using bought in plants rather than growing from seed. His greenhouse is really posh and the kitchen garden area is incredibly tidy. Must be nice to have money and probably staff! Although maybe not - half the fun is recycling stuff and making do with skip "gold".

Well - they're all on tape and will remain so until something better appears........
Isn't he gorgeous?
I think we're talking 40K or more as an initial investment in his veg garden. He's big into Ryton, Charlie Dimmock and others. I think we may have some influence yet - especially as another Mag (GYO) had a lead article as 'JM's Digs Deep' and the 'UK TV Food' article for GYO December edition - widely advertised - which never materialised due to lack of publication space.
Steve - can't we do something about this?????!!!!"
He'll be at the BBC Good Food Show from Nov 22nd. I will give him a copy of our latest KG Magazine and an invitation to join our Forum. Can't rely on that as a result.

We've been watching, and I cannot put into words his sheer raw passion and enthusiasm.... it's EXACTLY how I feel about what I do here for us.
Tigger, I know you won't get time to give him my phone number as well as yours, but I'm sure you could find the time to give him an extra kiss from me, after yours....
(Did you see Paul Hollywood last night as well ?!
Dubble Bubble or WHAT !)

Tigger, go and lie down in a darkened cool room.
Wellie, wait until Tigger has finished and take your turn.

I suspect my turn would never come with Tigger in the queue ahead of me !
I just hope that his poor little Basil seeds didn't drown tonight....washed away forever I fear.

Well, I've been in a darkened room for hours and it hasn't worked Peter. JM and PH ( no - not you Mr PH) all in one evening. Too much for anyone. Except Wellie and I, of course.
I think I'm going to pot up a bit of my perennial Basil and take that along with the KG Mag to the Food Show to give to him.
On a serious note, I think the strength of the programme is that it's unscripted. Mr M is at his best when he's 'winging it' rather than working from an autocue. As Maz says, it's the enthusiasm and wonder that is so delightful, particularly when you think that this is a man with millions who's overjoyed because he can grow carrots!

Yes, must agree JM is as tasty as his veg looks. Bit taken aback at the 40K estimate for setting up his lovely clean garden. When we move I anticipate having to start from scratch, but have a microscopic fraction of what he must have spent!!!
OK, so his cauli's were complete 'hite, and no wonder he wanted them out on tonight's episode, but the red cabbages would have been GORGEOUS had he left them to mature !!! only a bit of superficial slug/pillar damage. Easily 'quashed and sorted....
AND firmer ground...
But of course, it's KNOWING that, that counts, which is why he needs the magazine Tigger....
A guy like him that can find the time to Harley D it up to a local childrens' hospital/hospice to give out toys in his spare time, is a guy I'd welcome on this forum any time....

C'mon then James.... the gauntlet is thrown down. If you're serious let's see a little response from you. We're here to help you.
You know you want to....
Wonder if anyone has been kind enough to forward our nuggets of fine info to him .....
Hands up who'd be prepared to go on air to give a little friendly advice - NB I was first

You can fight all you like but Tigger will still flatten the pair of you in the dash to the front of the queue. When it comes to James she is a woman possessed.
I agree with you about his red cabbage Wellie; I was horrified when he pulled them out and realised I was shouting "Nooooooooooo" at the TV (a worrying trait as I get older). They looked so GOOD apart from one little caterpiller.
The man does clearly need help.
