I have grown sweetcorn for several years on my allotment but this year a problem has arisen that I have never seen before.
Many of the cobs have had their outer leaves shredded to reveal the cob and all the corn has been completely removed from the exposed cob leaving the inner corn.In some cases the whole cob has gone this way.
Has anyone any ideas about what could do thi?

Hi George,
Sounds very like Squirrels to me.

or foxes perhaps? they love ours, we pop an old 'pop' bottle with the bottom cut off over each developing cob, and it keeps them safe from beasties. netting was no good, as whoever was doing the munching, always managed to navigate that! :(

I vote squirrels too; the liitle beggars have decimated my crops growing in big barrels at home, luckily they didn't get a chance to get to my open grown ones. They too have cheekily peeled off the outer coat and had a good nibble.....
