Machine Mart have a cheap drill powered pump (use cordless on the plot) suitable for transferring water to your butt if hoses are not allowed. Would also be OK for filling water butts from the bath for those of us with downstairs bathrooms.

ter one from the Draper range as it has adapyers for 1/2" hose (standard hosepipe) and is a bit cheaper - you may be able to get it delivered to your friendly Draper stockist

I used to depend on one of these to look after the greenhouse during summer holiday.Got a cheap secondhand drill to run it. If no drill available you might as well do it properly with a water garden pump. Neighbours either forgot to water the plants or drowned them. They never knew how to find ALL the runner beans.
Don't forget an RCD is a must for electricity outside.
I use a cordless drill and auger to plant runner bean canes when the ground is hard.

I bought the Draper one. A few points to bear in mind are:-
a) Battery drills don't usually operate at required speed. Even with a mains drill they are slow.
b) They are NOT self priming & it's very fidly to prime the inlet pipe 'tho it can be done.
c) You really need a filter on the input, any dirt or debris comming through the inlet will damage the impeller.
Having said all that I find mine useful in certain situations.
Regards
