My french beans are ready to pick. Problem is that we cannot eat them every meal. I give some away, as I suspect we all do. Problem is, I do not like them when frozen. To me they tast oily! Any ideas on any other way to keep them please? Same for runner beans.

years ago we used to preserve shredded runners in layers of salt in the big glass sweet jars, do you blanch before freezing , we dont. the other alternative with the french beans is not to pick from some plants so the beans mature, then once the pods have dried completly harvest the actual bean seeds, which can be srored dry for use in stews etc,.

Thank you Richard. That's a brilliant idea. We do not normally blanch anything, but I have tried all ways with Runner and French beans. Still do not like them frozen. Probably have no problem with runners this year. In another post I have said that all flowers are falling off, unpolinated.
