Have any of you noticed any Blight on your Spuds or Toms yet?

Some of my outdoor tomatoes having been looking a bit patchy - especially some Sweet Olives.

Today when I looked at them, there were dark patches on several leaves & stems. Also several of the developing fruit had coloured patches very like the blight I've had before.

Since I have several other tomato plants nearby which are so far clear, I have despatched the two affected plants. It seems a bit earlier than previous years, but I guess the weather conditions have been a bit more mixed.

Colin, you might find this interesting, I registered our allotment society last year and automatically got brought forward to 2006.

Outbreaks so far
At the time of writing there is a total of 59 outbreaks confirmed (up 17 from last week) with 6 suspect cases awaiting samples for verification.

Blight Maps
Blight mapping is a service from the British Potato Council first introduced in 2003 which enables you, the industry, to track blight outbreaks in your area throughout the season. These blight pages are rebuilt for the 2006 season.

As well as featuring the blight maps, this section of the BPC web site links to all the relevant information that the BPC has on blight, and to other blight related websites.

Thanks Peter, the website you quote certainly has evidence of blight around the country, though not in Bristol where I am.

Since first starting this thread, there have been waves of steady rain for the last 24 hours. I guess damp warmish weather isn't going to help. So far though, I've only seen problems with my Tomatoes - other outdoor tomatoes and my spuds are still, so far, ok.
