Just a gentle reminder that the saved pumpkin seed will only produce pumpkins similar to the parent if the plants were well isolated from other curcurbits (pumpkins, squashes, courgettes etc). If the pumpkin plants were in flower at the same time as other varieties nearby, the bees will see that your offspring are a bit of a surprise - but only growing them will tell! Best of luck!

It sounds delightful. Although last year I grew two types of pumpkin in close proximity; each came true. I hand pollinated them.Does that make a difference? Or will the mutation affect the next generation only?

The first batch of seeds you sent me with a Christmas stamp arrived today perfectly correctly addressed so I have plenty of stock for next year, thank you!
Meanwhile the replacements are growing well in their big pots in my shed with a plastic roof. I may put them out this weekend, probably a week earlier than normal but it seems set fair.
PS : is there a progress reporting thread I've failed to find somewhere?
