I planted asparagus seeds 3(or maybe 4!) years ago, and when they were in little pots planted them out, fairly close together, but i thought some of them would probably die! forgot all about them the weeds and brambles grew all around, until this year i have discovered a stash of really thick yummy spears, i have spent an age weeding around them i really need to thin them out. Will they transplant now while they have fronds, or should I wait till winter when thet are just the crowns?

Asparagus does not like to be moved and will probably die if you try to do so.

As you have had success before with seeds why don't you try again with a different variety, remembering to space them better :D

Good luck.
