I have heard that you can eat courgette flowers - but what do you do with them?
Stuff them, fry them or what??

I have the flowers - just need some advice please!!!

Thank-you!

hello Vicki!
My brother in law is a chef, and he says you can stuff them or (batter and?) deep fry them (or both!) Hope this helps, not sure of the mechanics of these ideas though!

Hugh FW did the batter thing on one of his River Cottage programmes. Make a tempura batter, dip the flower in and deep fry in very hot oil for not very long. I note from memory that the flowers were just on the point of opening. :D

PS never tried it though. :?

Chez I'd love your recipe for Courgette Flower Risotto please - seems a shame to waste them doesn't it. Will have to have a go at stuffing them as well I think - would you bake them suffed do you think ?

Hello Vicki - now under 'Recipes'. Not sure about baking them. I have only ever used them in the risotto recipe. I did a quick search and found one recipe that states once stuffed, they can be steamed 'for 3-5 mins', if that helps for an alternative to deep frying.
