bannana leaves turning black

I have a 5 foot high bannana plant in a pot which I have managed to not kill this winter (the other two seemed to rot from the top down. It is kept in an unheated greenhouse and I have just noticed that the leaves are 'blackening' on the outer edges. I have kept it well watered during the recent hot spell. I have only given it one feed of Vitax this year. Any suggestions about what is causing this will be gratefully received.

Are only some leaves affected?
We have a banana plant and only about the top 3 or 4 leaves stay green at any one time. All older leaves go brown (not black like yours) then wilt and eventually fall off.
It's doing better now the weather's improved, but other than growing taller, doesn't really seem to be thriving.

At the moment it only has two leaves and one starting in the centre, it is these two which are affected. The leaves all did exactly what you described last year but I do not remember any blackening which is why I am worried. How did you keep yours through last winter?
