Summer time again, where does the time go!
Just planted lots of Brassica plants out….Purple sprouting broccoli, Tenderstem broccoli and Brussel sprouts……it’s showing a fair drop of rain tonight, so pleased they are in!
Planted 12 Dwarf French bean plants out about 4 weeks ago…. Turns out, they are Climbing French beans….really don’t know how that happened, as I only thought I had Slenderette and they are dwarf

I've got lettuce and dwarf beans to plant out later when I get home, so also pleased we have rain forecast. Just got to keep the fox off now..........

My plant delivery arrived today...not quite in the safeplace as requested but safe enough and here.. just slightly lightened in colour but all ok.
Rain was in the forecast from 10am...but nothing came in fact it was warm and with a very drying wind..

Got wet walking from the car to the back door just now though..proper big spots of rain....for just the duration of my walk in it seemed.!

I have planted out quite a bit today with water under...so a drop overnight would be good..

..back to bright sunshine now..

I am going to have an overload of squash & pumpkins. I have my own bought seeds & some saves from OZ which I have planted out & then today the guy in the 2nd row dropped off some more plants. I gave him some plants last year as I had an overload & a fox visit so he repaid me today. Fortunately we chatted at plot 1 fence or he might have been embarrassed a bit if he saw the sows in plot 2. Won't be wasted as the man opposite is back on his plot following the death of his wife so he will have something to start with at least.

Will be going down on Wed next as only some light drizzle then & only some kale to plant out. Have other stuff to plant but a bit small still so a chance to weed which should be way easier with some rain in the mix.....& I'll find more strawberries ready!

Lovely, lovely rain

Bit more than light rain here, 12.7mm yesterday and 16.5mm so far today and looking set for more.

I think it rained most of the night here, and it is now chucking it down after a brief respite. The Alemanchier tree outside my work window dumped 90% of its leaves over the weekend, so hopefully, it'll get a good drink now, and recover. I attempted to pre-soak the borders at home, as a lot of established plants were wilting badly. I knew rain was coming this week, so gave the soil a bit of a head start.

Stopped raining for a bit now but forecast saying another 3 days of rain & thunder, so plants will be very well watered & hopefully very happy & perky. I'll slip down on Friday to check as it's mostly a drizzle day & I want to make sure things haven't blown around & I have a few plants to get in. I think weeding will be on the agenda mostly but at least the weeds will be easier to pull out!

We had 4mm, then 3mm....with another 6mm in the glass this morning with a bit more during the day in some sharp showers. It's certainly made things put on a spurt of growth...the good, the bad and the ugly alike............

Blooming windy today...and it went quite cold around lunchtime but warmed again during the afternoon..

Looking forward to checking the plots tomorrow. I anticipate my beds that flood will be full but that could be handy as I want to put the watercress in & considering the amount of rain I should not have to put a dripper up for a while. It always makes me giggle a bit when I prep these bed as they look like paddy fields with my little raised walkways I have between the rows, mind they likely collapsed with the volume of rain.

I have to get the toms in before anything else tomorrow; well hopefully if they have grown big enough but anticipate they will have loved the rain & fortunately netted & secured so should not have blow away! (Wonder if my runner frame is still standing)? After this wee job & a general check around I think I will focus on weeding while easier to pull the weeds. Hoeing is fine but a short term fix & they keep coming up so pulling is my favoured method but was just impossible to do & even the Hori knife did not make much impact.

should be a lot easier to pull them Westi, after all that rain.

I jinxed myself mentioning the runner frame standing yesterday! Both frames were flattened but I didn't loose any plants just lost time so toms didn't get put in but they are all looking perky. Since I was down that end I also managed to clear the raspberry beds & found a spud growing & got a a nice pile of clean spuds from just that single wayward plant. I think I can safely blame the dog for it being buried in that area though!
