Hi, I have been renovating a merry tiller super major AC3424 rotovator for a friend....it is all working correctly and starts and runs well except that even with the belt idler wheel resting on the deck it still drives forward at an alarming rate and cannot be pulled backwards as the belt gripsthe pulleys
I checked various internet sites and the belt appears to be correct - 13 x 1168 for the pulleys I have - 2" engine, 8 1/2" transmission and 15" between the centres
I have seen reference to "NOT" using a rubber belt (which IS what it currently has) as it may cause this exact problem but have not been able to locate the recommended cloth covered one.
I contacted merry tiller spares uk and, rather curtly I felt, was advised to "take it to a shop that sells belts"....hmmm.....that is not practical due to its size and weight and there arent many if any repair agents near where we live in Suffolk, England !
have attached some pics in case they help
Any help or advice appreciated
thanks
