Hi all

I'm only growing Jalapeno this year as a first test after someone gave me a chilli plant last year.

I'm a bit of a girl with hot things but do like those jalapeno hotshots where you halve them and fill them with cream cheese etc.

I would appreciate any advice on how to grow these plants well so that I get a good result and can hopefully go on in future years to grow other, hotter beasties and thereby restore my macho persona!

I have a greenhouse and plenty of ground available.

I treat them much the same as tomatoes in that I grow most inside but also some outside.

They like it warm and sunny and I feed them with a high potash feed at the same time as I feed my tomatoes.

They are pretty tough plants and can take more neglect than toms so are easier to manage I find. Aphids, spider mite and white fly can be a problem but that is easy to manage in most cases if you keep your eyes open.

I grew 4 or 5 types each year and store them in the feezer. Great crop.

Just as an aside, how do you keep your flowers from dropping off. So far mine are flowering well, but not setting fruit and the flowers just dying off (stem and all). I have started misting them several times a day, but no better yet. They are inside the flat on a sunny window ledge.

From what I have read - and I'm no expert - they don't like too much growing room so they like restricted space. The GW trials are in 9" pots. Piglet or Mr Chilli Holmes will know the answer.
