Some recipes are daft

I never follow recipes anyway. Just glance at them and look at the photos for ideas. That said, I have friends who won't attempt to cook anything unless they follow the recipe exactly to the letter.
I saw a recipe today which called for half a tablespoon of low-fat creme fraiche. So, what are they supposed to do with the rest of the tub? I just said to heck with that, I've got some opened double cream in the fridge, I'll blat some of that in and season accordingly.

Yep Stravaig, 1/2 tablespoon is ludicrous & wasteful. It is quite easy to make but that means planning in advance, & also once opened it is quick to go furry. What were you making? Any good, care to share?

My son and his partner follow recipes slavishly to the extent that when it is their turn to cook (lodging en route to NZ) we sometimes don't have enough or too much as they don't scale!

I think I was making this - or something like it.

I'd wanted to make salmon sashimi but the bit of salmon wasn't quite suitable. And husband came home with a rucksack-sized bag of spinach from the supermarket. Yes, I did ask for spinach but couldn't for the life of me remember why or what for. Of course I could make something, but I like to look for ideas, and that recipe seemed quite nice.
Sorry, it wasn't half a tablespoon. It was a tablespoon of half fat. Didn't pay full attention.
It was very tasty, I'd recommend salmon with spinach and cream. And I'd also recommend doing your own thing with it. Smoked haddock would work well too.
