Should I trim the plum?

Plum Beauty may have been able to survive cold & wet, but the big winds we had did it no favours. Nearly all the tiny branches the new fruit was on got windburn, well so my neighbour says it might be that as temp not that low.
Do I cut these back now to tidy up the tree & actually see what fruit I might have? The main leaves are fine, just the fruiting wee branches seem to be affected.
Cheers for your wisdom as usual!
