Purple Sprouting Broccoli

I 'accidentally' sowed some Purple Sprouting Broccoli seed this week (Southern England). I say accidentally as I put them in open ground rather than the greenhouse. Now I know it is much too early, but broccoli is hardy so will the seed just sit there until it is warm enough to germinate and might be OK? Or shall I just write them off?

Thanks.

Are they a Winter variety, or a Summer variety, Grove?

It always used to be the second week in April for sowing Winter PSB outside but, with the weather being all over the place and since it has been so mild, I think there is a very good chance they will germinate…..you should know in a couple of weeks, so there will still be time to re-sow, if there is no sign. Also watch out for slugs and snails, as they can graze the emerging seedlings off, just as they are coming through!
