This fits into the rant section! For not the first time a supplier at the end of my contract has sent me offers for reducing & re-jigging my package; only issue being you can't as always sent to a page that does suddenly doesn't work. Currently trying to get rid of the rubbish on my broadband package as I am never going to watch any movies or pod casts from unknown individuals or visit anywhere overseas & I don't use the landline so why paying for this? This company, which is well known also outside this remit; think planes & space travel, just has an 'Oop's' message & then flips you to a page only offering more expensive packages. Mr bought a new phone & changed supplier when he did but they never changed his either & when he went in to see them, he was fobbed off about it being a special offer & he was outside the time frame, & couldn't change retrospectively without being part of the phone offer which he was, message being he bought the simple cheaper phone.

Update to the above now Mr Apple has literally just hijacked my phone to update! I did not give permission for this, even though only a short invasion & it wasn't a proper update to get better service, just for the App store, which I have only ever looked up to see what it was but not interested in anything on offer.

OK rant over! Brother in Law is down in a couple of weeks & is a computer whizz as is his job, so I will get him on the case as pretty sure he will know how to circumvent the 'Oop's'!

This is a bit more like it but, as Clive said, it’s a job to know what jobs to do first….started really early this morning and got work proper done, and then shot over the allotments and planted 120 potato sets…..now time for a spot of lunch!

My red fleshed apple tree has really enjoyed the rain & it looks so pretty looking out the kitchen window I had to take a pic. Looks like I could have a lot of lovely red juice at the end of the year.

Had Big Bertha out doing a wonderful job of rotovating, she certainly makes short work of a large area, when conditions are favourable!

Westi If you just use mobile and only want broadband without landline line ask your techy guy if tethering using mobile like Giffgaff would work.

Sorry Geoff I don't know the name, the little metal tag went ages ago.

But I just looked at a specialist supplier directory I kept from 2007 & it sounds like Jonagold. 'Large, juicy, red fleshed eating apple with a sweet honey flavour.' From Victoriana Nursery Gardens in Kent www.victoriananursery.co.uk

I hope this helps if interested.

Another productive day sorting & sowing & starting to feel a bit bit more in charge. I am mostly sowing direct again hoping that my Neomode & Slugo assault is enough to control the slimy ones, but did not see very many when I was weeding & my bucket collection was really reduced.

Just got to weed the back strawberry beds as just coming into flower, plant & cover the leeks which are looking good & sturdy, weed the front raspberries & neaten up the front flower beds which look messy now the daffs have gone over. Neighbour will strim the front for me when I tidy & edge these beds. Then onto Plot 2, but way less to do on that one. I'm really enjoying my early starts, not so much the getting up bit & sorting the critters; just the quiet & peacefulness down there - well except for my bossy Robin who is really demanding & noisy but well handsome.

I had quite a catch up in the big garden yesterday and today, kitchen garden wise.
Sowed chard and varieties of beetroot, set up the hoops for the carrot mesh...and dutifully worked the ground in the morning, left it a while, with thoughts of that instruction from JB and sowed nantes5 this afternoon..didn't use a flame gun on it though.. ;)
...next was three varieties of onion sets and then a few nicola potatoes...

Ground worked really well..it has dried hugely on the top...even some dust....although that is whilst stocks last...as I see rain is due first off tomorrow...hence my push on with it all..

Sounds like you had a very successful day, Clive!
I chain-harrowed one of the fields today, a job I really enjoy, as it brings back happy childhood memories of working on the local farms….

A dish of stewed rhubarb was an element of my tea yesterday ;)

You'll run faster on a dish of rhubarb.!! ;)

Forecast said it was supposed to be raining already here.....hence my push on with things yesterday but only a few spits and spots..so far.

90% chance of rain on next two hours here...so, yes, back to normal... have a few seed pans to prick out so they may well get done ;)

Pleasant thoughts, Clive…. :D

It’s been chucking it down for a couple of hours now and the wind has a real bite to it again!

Perhaps I should have checked the forecast better before I planted out the broad beans and sweet peas this weekend, being throwing hailstones at them this morning much going past horizontally.

sideways rain here too this morning. I hope my outdoor seed trays are still where I left them. I've run out of greenhouse space, so the hardier ones are now outside.
