Anyone doing anything special for the occasion?

I shall be making some haggis pasties later. Like Cornish pasties but with a filling of haggis, neeps and tatties. (Should I confess that despite being a Teuchter - north east Scottish person - I don't like haggis. I quite like the vegetarian version.)

I must admit I don’t do anything for Burns night….
I diid see some vegetarian haggis for sale in the shop, when I went shopping Monday.

Well, maybe you should consider doing something?

When I was a kid, if Andy Stewart came on the telly I would race upstairs and put my kilt on. You could do something like that. Or make Cullen Skink (delicious!!!!)

Waitrose usually has haggis all year round. I notice Asda has some haggis in specifically for Burns Night but it's a brand I've never heard of before. McSweens is generally considered to be the best.

Edit for typo: sorry for my ignorance, it's MacSweens who make the haggis.

We'll be having a traditional haggis for lunch with ample gravy in view of Scottish ancestors on both sides. It,s pretty dry and unpalatable without gravy I think.

Vegetarian haggis? Sounds dire, ! I don,t like offal at all but haggis is the one exception in which I can eat it but even then can only face it a couple of times a year. ! We occasionally mix any surplus in with mashed potatoes to make some savoury rissoles or in a cottage lie mixture.

I’ve only had haggis a couple of times both times from Costco I enjoyed it both times ,but like a lot of foods it’s the company you are eating it with that makes the enjoyment
