Isn't this gardening lark great? Tonight we had our first "harvest" - baby turnips fresh from the garden.
Only for son & hubby to announce that they "don't like them"

My dear Zena, maybe it wasn't the turnips they didn't like, it was probably the burnt bits on them.
Kind regards Old Herbaceous.

Cheek OH, you're getting worse, thank goodness
My lot don't like turnip either but they still get it. I love it with carrots, cream, salt, pepper and a little grated nutmeg.
Yummy. Oh, I feel a bit peckish now

Hi Zena,
Send them all my way I simply love Baby Turnip steamed then rolled in butter and the foliage steamed as well with new Potatoes and a grilled neck fillet of Lamb and fresh picked Peas that really only need boiling water poured over them. Heaven!

Old H - I'm shocked and disappointed in you
The turnips were cooked to perfection and served with a cider and mustard glaze a la Delia Smith.Admittedly, the accompanying pork chops may have been a tad "well done".....
I don't care - I was just so excited to be cooking somehting I'd grown

apart from that, it'sjust been radishes. we might dig the first spuds at the weekend, too!
Ps all turnip recipies gratefully received - we've got a lot of them!

Sorry Zena, i thought you grew the veg and your hubby does all the cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing.
I should have quit while i was ahead.
Kind regards Old Herbaceous.
Never above you, never below you, but always beside you.
