Another scene from my Perthshire wanderings, this "General Wades" bridge, built as part of the military road to the highlands in the 18th centaury, it still stands taking heavy goods vehicles and buses over it, certainly a greater load than they could have envisaged when designing it.

I see the price of smokeless coal has jumped considerably….so glad I got ours and my Mum’s in early Summer….
Have just ordered the oil too…..heading towards the £1000 mark….I still can’t make out if there is going to be any help with that!

I hope your oil tank is securely protected OH.
The local police in our area are warning that heating oil thefts are on the increase too, especially in rural areas.

Meanwhile we have reviewed our emergency lighting devices and bought some new LED head torches and lanterns.

Dear Primrose, someone just around the corner from us, had their tank emptied the other year….apparently the thieves had been following the tanker, picking any tanks that were easy to get to and of course, they knew they would be fairly full.

I think if you live in the country a gaggle of angry geese is probably the best defence although I gather even these have to be currently fenced in due to regulations to prevent the spread of avian flu.

They probably carry bolt cutters as well so not much you can do. Ours has a big sticker on it that says "Tank Alarmed", the level meter apparently detects a rapid fall in level. Downside is I doubt I could hear it in the bedroom from where it is. If they came down our drive there are three tanks quite close to each other with us and our neighbours. I put 2,000 litres in at a fraction over 90p in August so a lot to lose, must remember to ask the insurance company if there are any caveats about precautions in the event of a claim. Yes OH the £100 cashback idea seems to have gone quiet, mind I spent £1,000 more than last year. Thankful my electric is 19.4p until March 2024.

Oil club is quoting £0.8980.

Told by guy that services boiler that more damage is done to tank by thieves that drill it to get at the oil.

Regards the cash back I heard it is going to be added to the electric bill.

I hear that oil thieves are using drones to follow tankers and then strike. Yes they ruin the tanks by drilling into them and don't worry about locks being on them.

The cloud looked a bit like that on the lowland fens today too.... 22mm from some monsoon rain with more forecast for this evening.

Once upon a time we wanted it to rain...now I'm not so sure hedges still to cut and then onto wet borders.

Thanks for the kind comment, we have had a few light frosts up here and at nearly a 1000 feet up it was probably colder in the Glen.
