That’s a good result Geoff, the first batch of Charlotte I planted, died off quite early so there wasn’t really a good crop off them but, the ones I planted a month later and have just started to dig, are carrying a huge crop!

Well done, I think I got less than half that amount, not enough water put on them due to shortages.

The farmers are already harvesting autumn sown Barley, never known it so early, the haulms on the tatties have been cut off too, all before the rape seed, most unusual growing season up here.

Anybody grown Indigo Blue Beauty? We haven't cut into any of them yet but they look interesting. The bigger one is 13½ ozs.

I haven't tried these but grow similar big 'ugly' ones which just taste so much better & have less seeds & water content. Is this a relative of Indigo Rose the black smaller normal tomato I wonder? I usually grow Indigo Rose just for taste but had trouble getting seeds this year.

They look great though Geoff so give us an update on how they taste!

I looked at the Indigo family before viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15256&p=156377&hilit=indigo#p156377 I also have Cherry Drops this year. I'll have to take a photo of the plant, the Blue Beauty look blue before they ripen. We usually give things a couple of days in the house before we taste them but I intend to photograph the cut.

I think I should start growing a few different types of tomatoes….I always grow a few Gardener’s Delight but, i’m sure they are not as good as they used to be…might just be me though!

The guy who runs the plots for our local council has been up and down the track on the plots and removed all the adaptors that enable us to connect a hose pipe I’m undecided wether to report him to the police for theft but not enough proof the things some people get up to a amaze me

I'm growing 10 different varieties this year, two of each type, some I know I like and some I've never grown before, we then do a taste test and decide what to grow next year. I still like Gardeners delight and Moneymaker and Ailsa Craig, but Orange Queen will be a surprise.

Todays harvest of biggie's & littlin's! It's a good year with lots of fruit even though they had a so/so start. I also now have my first baby cucumber - I've forgotten how many re-sow's it has taken but I have been supported by my neighbour who has a huge crop.

We had a bit of a big tomato tasting session this lunchtime. Checked out first timers this year Crimson Crush and Indigo Blue Beauty against our long time favourite Cherokee Purple. The Cherokee still just won but the others were very close. Here is a cut Indigo Blue Beauty, I don't know how it reproduces the seeds are almost impossible to find.
This year I am growing 48 plants in 19 varieties. You must experiment OH, all of the beefsteaks are really worth trying for taste. We have 7 Cherokee, 6 Beefmaster, 2 Indigo Blue Beauty and 2 of the freebie with the magazine Cuor Di Bue (perhaps just behind in taste).

I've grown the Cuor di bue, first time I've done so, not ready yet though.
