cornflour or cornstarch

Hello all
I have been trying to find out if cornflour is the same as cornstarch as i would like to reduce the greasy feeling in my butters
Has anybody figured it out

I believe they are the same thing - called cornflour in some countries & cornstarch in the US in particular. Neither are a substitute for flour which you need in your batters as they are thickening agents only. A decent batter has to rise a bit. Maybe tweak the amount of butter or other fat in your batter? I've seen lots of recipes for Olive Oil based cakes for example.

Same stuff on different sides of the Atlantic. We call it cornflour, the Americans "cornstarch".
