Before and after!

Unbelievable, it took almost a year for the garden to turn into this. To be precise, 10 months of hard work on a daily basis and it was totally worth the effort. Finally I can say that it looks like a garden and in all the chaos I completely neglected the front yard. Today was a nice day to rid the front yard of 2 metres tall weeds to make room for tasty bee-herbs!

In the front yard: Lavender, California white sage, Rosemary, Thyme, Lemon balm, Savory and Lovage  And a nice bamboo in a plastic container with anti-rooting cloth to prevent spreading it through the neighbourhood. Hopefully that works!

Well done Elmigo. That back garden is an absolute transformation and i hope you,ve been enjoying the results of your Labour. And a front garden herb area is a good idea. Just being able to step outside for fresh herbs is a lovely convenience.

Thanks a lot!
Enjoyed the actual labor as well, great way to stay in shape while doing something productive. Now it's time to harvest joy!

Your garden is a real credit to you Elmigo and it will hopefully inspire others to have a go....

I hope you feel the value of the crops picked will be commensurate with all the effort put in although I guess that is always a debatable point !!

Goodness what a transformation! It looks fab, but obvs hard work & determination to get to this point! A little bit of land, a keen eye for development & actually a beautiful space as the result. With OH there - what an inspiration to others!

Thank you all for your very, very kind words!

If this garden would inspire others too that would be a win-win. Anyone else thinks it's funny how it suddenly seems larger than when it was empty? Or is it just me?

No it doesn't to me as you cleverly used the main path to draw the eye down & varied the sizes of the beds! Vegetable garden designer as your next career? Your pic has been viewed 90 times so I'm sure one or two of those 90 may have been inspired!

Your design also makes crop rotation easier which is another feature of healthy vegetable growing.
I think youVe done an excellent job Elmigo and can just be proud of how your first season has worked out. I know that greenhouse probably swallowed up outdoor growing space you might have valued space but hope it has proved a good investment in terms of extending your growing season and what you can grow. I also love the minimum paved paths. Just wide enough for walking on without creating a muddy mess but don't gobble up more growing space than minimally needed

Looks like you have more growing space In the front garden yet to plan.
Are you planning more edible or decorative flowers?
If you're open to the road where everything is visible, be mindful of potential theft if growing vegs. A sad indication of today's world, at least over here and especially in pandemic times !
