I have been looking after a lady with fungal nail infection for 18 months. We tried the stuff you paint on and tablets from the Doctor which didn't work. Since we have been painting on Tea tree oil a natural fungicide her nails have been growing normally from the base

A chiropodist I visited in the past recommended painting a couple of my toe nails which had a fungal nail with Tea Tree Oil. It does work but you have to be very conscientious and paint them every day for several weeks. Fungal infections on toe nails can make them very hard and difficult to cut. You're more likely to need a pair of seccateurs than nail clippers to do the job effectively !

When I went into hospital a couple of weeks ago I was given a load of information about preventing MRSA etc. One of the warnings was that continued use of tea tree oil on the body can make you resistant to certain antibiotics and increase the risk of contracting superbugs. I rarely use it so didn't give it a second thought but I've just googled and found this

Thanks for the tip about the nails though, mine are fine but my sister often has a problem with hers. I'll tell her tonight.

I tried tea tree oil, tablets (bad side-effects), vinegar and many other remedies. Found out the hard way that it takes a lot of persistance to get rid of the fungal nail infection. Preventing reinfection is the number 1 goal... otherwise no remedy will work
