Morning Snooky, Cara are a good sized potato for baking, but they do suffer terribly from slug damage...
But I grow Kestrel, don't get quite as large but, they bake wonderfully and don't seem to get hardly any damage from slugs...and as an added bonus, the smaller ones make lovely chips or roastie's.

King Edwards bake well but are a slug magnet as in the soil so long! Cara is a good one as well, but I grew it's brother Picasso last year which was pretty successful as well! I am growing King Edward's again this year as size superior & considering trying nematodes, as they apparently only needed to be applied just twice & as they are pretty expensive that is more reasonable & nothing disses me as much as thinking I have a perfect one without anything obvious until you cut it to put the butter on!

Thank you OH and Westi for the info. What I shall do is buy small packs, five in a pack, of the varieties which you suggest and also grow Desiree as a maincrop. Will be interesting as I have moved to a new,for me,alloment.

Had a surprise last year, my Foremost had some pretty big spuds and I baked them, oh my, delicious baked first early!
