I have opened my diary to find I have written "Pickled Quince" against 6 October.

I have no recollection of writing this.

I have no quince to pickle.

Can you even pickle quince?

Suggestions on a postcard...

I'm still none the wiser. I'm sure all will become clear, eventually, but it's driving me crackers! I can't blame autocorrect, I wrote it in my diary in pencil!

Why would I want to pickle quince, even assuming I had any? :?

I was wondering if its that darned predictive text again and you actually meant to write Phone Quentin !! But then I see it was handwritten in a paper diary so perhaps your G &T used the ingredients in the wrong proportions !!

Some of my friends get occasional very weird emails from me since this technology arrived!

I'm slowing coming around to thinking this is something to do with Nigel Slater. I've looked in Kitchen Diaries I and II but they haven't helped, however the Christmas Chronicles do say how wonderful is pickled quince!

I was over whelmed with quince last year (none this year), so I guess it's possible I was planning ahead and put an aide memoire in my diary. The trouble is, my memoire requires more than an aide! I recall nothing of this, this is detective work to get the hamster off his wheel in my head. Many more picked quince thoughts and that hamster is going to crash and burn.

Out of curiosity, has anyone here ever pickled quince? Is it worth fretting about?
