yesterday i picked a few lettuce leaves to go in a hurried corned beef sandwitch. second bite was a bit crunchie, a bit like some eggshell in it, anyway investigation of the crunchie bits revealled bits of snail shell, :( didnt notice any strange taste if it hadnt been for the shell i wouldn't have noticed a thing. kids are now insisting on inspecting all that goes in their sandwitches.

Richard what do you mean by divine retribution? Did you mean God was paying you back for killing snails or that your were the vengeful god eating the thing that had eaten your lunch? (Thank goodness the Sister Irish Nun isn't on the forum at the moment!)
I long ago stopped telling anyone when I saw a stowaway amongst the dinner. You never hear the end of it. I mean the French eat snails! It's haute cuisine for good ness sake!

I do have to say though it's going a bit far just to suppress the snail population.

Lizzie, theres probably more protein in the snail then there is in the corned beef.

Kind regards Old Herbaceous.

Theres no fool like an old fool.

I'm about to persue my usual evening ritual of jumping on snails and slugs. Very satisfying and breakfast for the birds.

Rather a snail than half a mouse.

It's a sight to behold - wellies on, torch at the ready, collect up snails and slugs into little piles, then bounce on them. It's one of my evening rituals!
