Go on work it out.

Just got back from two hours in the pouring rain fixing two holes in our boundary fence.

One looks like some little darling has unpicked the top of the chainlink and pulled it apart. Resonably easy to fix.
The other they had cut the chainlink, straining wire and all, removed a 3' X 3' bit hidden in a recess between a shed and a compost bin and been in and out for the weekend. Absolute bugger to fix.

Only found out because a fellow plotholder rang to ask if anything had happened since he was there on friday, and when he popped in early this evening all his runner bean canes had gone.

It makes your blood boil, no purpose other than destruction and annoyance.

Peter, sorry to read that, no wonder you had the angry head on for a while.
We are so lucky where are allotments are, we never get any trouble, apart from a bit of wild life.
I never even bother bringing my tools back if i'm going back over later, and that includes my mower or howard gem.

Some little darlings re-visited since last night and cut the wire above the repaired hole.

Oh well, at least it wasn't raining this time, so the dog could sunbathe while I patched.

Sounds like the ideal spot for a blackberry thicket,thats what we end up doing to keep the little(and not so little)sweeties out.Either that or grow a surrounding 'hedge'of nettles which can of course be harvested for fertilizer.

well after all this rain i bet they had wet knickers and muddie knees.Mud is an absolute bugger to get out of clothes,and i hope they had their rain coat!

Personally I hope after they cut the wire that it sprang at them and cut them, deeply, in the face, might scare them off. But plenty of mud would be OK.

Looked like they were trying to disguise the hole or build a hide or den as the hole opened into a recess between one old boys shed and the blackthorn in the corner of his gone to nettles compost bin made of corry, just a few feet wide.

So the nettles got trimmed, as did the tree, so the recess is now opened out.

Trouble is the afected plotholder, whilst he is a lovely old boy, has suffered bad health for a few years and his mind seems to be wandering a bit lately. Had great difficulty telling him what had happened as he kept going on about the water 18" deep on the path outside the fence, only 1&1/2" from standing in it for two hours and most of that was mud. Am worried if it recurrs that his shed will get wrecked or torched, as I find it has no lock at all.

Sounds like you need a ditch full of pig slurry with a thin lid.

On wed night about 7pm my ubby chased 10-15 of the buggers off our site ,he caught one who then asked him....and what are you gonna do,ye fat b..tard HE WAS RLY PUT OUT BY THIS AS HE SAYS HE MIGHT BE BALDY,BUT DEFFO NOT FAT!Any way the young little scrot thretend to burn his shed down.
THURS night.....police man catches one of ten....other 9 come back and beat the policeman up
FRI NIGHT 11pm 2 sheds burnt to the ground and 40 greenhouses smashed to bits.

Crock, that's terrible! I am SOOO sorry - I don't know what else to say - it must be so disheartening. I have never understood the mentality of poeple like that - have they really not got anyhting better to do wih their time?and what makes it even more frustraing is that if you do do anything to protect your proeprty (a man trap springs to mind) you'll be the one in trouble!

What about electric fencing Grock? Our local agricultural store has a range which starts at a very good price. I think you'd have to label it (Health and Safety and all), but the litlle ******* might not be able to read in the dark, with any luck.

Yep, it's terrible on our plots at the mo. It took me ages to persuade one of the women not to give her plot up cos the little scrotes wrecked her shed. I'm hoping that she'll stay now.

I think that the council could do more to help protect the site Grock and I are on. A developer has build new flats opposite and they are getting wrecked on a nightly basis. The lads are ready for stringing a few up. They're trying to let the flats but people are being shown round places that have all their windows smashed in.

I'm all for going to the press and highlighting the issue but will have to talk to the Chair first. I know that she was in a terrible state yesterday and gave her a big cuddle cos she was so upset. She loves the lotties and has been there for over 15 years.

What can you do apart from aiming a catapult filled with pig slurry at them?

My idea with trench full of pig slurry was so you could use Police dogs to track them to their nests but if they are beating up the Police you have a problem.

What I don't understand is the majority of the kids I know wouldn't dream of doing anything like that at all. It wouldn't even enter their heads.

What kind of parents do these kids have? I was speaking to a police officer who told me that, one day, she was in court giving evidence in a case. She saw a teenage lad drop something on the floor so she told him to pick it up. He refused, she told him again so he did as he was told. Fair enough. But the mother then hits the kid across the head and screams " what the **** did you do that for, you don't do what the ******* p***s say you stupid ***888"

What upset the police officer most was that she could see that, with some encouragement and care, she could have sorted the kid out and sent him on the right track.

Sad or what?
