vigorous evergreen claytolerant shrub wanted

Following a very recent redesign of the garden and chookery, I need some vigorous, evergreen, heavy-clay tolerant shrubs to quickly (i.e. this year) fill a space against post and rails.
We've got native hedging everywhere else, so something else would be good.
Any ideas?

How about things such as choisya, aucuba, mahonia, larger hebe’s, skimmia, ceanothus, cotoneaster…….all do well in my clay soil in Sussex.

Hi Sandy....I too can vouch for Choisya. (ternata)
I've always called mine Mexican Sundance but the common name is Mexican orange blossom.
It grows in sun or partial shade and mine is about 5' high as well as wide.
It's flowering at the moment, clusters of white against pale green leaves.
It must be pretty robust too as it's growing quite happily next to a very well-behaved Leylandii. In fact a bit too happy for my liking so shall be cutting it back a bit as soon as it has finished flowering.
