... check who is around before criticising something.

The scene was the local community centre
The event was the local Horticultural & Craft Show.

My daughter was putting her entries on the benches in the domestic crafts section.
Apart from the usual type of cakes, muffins and biscuits etc my daughter also tries to make something different for the 'Cake of your Choice' class.
Whilst benching she overheard a conversation between two ladies regarding her entry in that class.

Woman One "That's not a cake, what's it doing being entered there, that's never a cake. What do you think ?
Woman Two "No it can't be a cake, I agree, there's never a cake in there"

At which point my daughter says " Actually it is"
Woman One " How do you know, you didn't make it did you"
Daughter "Actually yes I did, it is chocolate marbling cake "

Woman One "Omg, you didn't overhear all what I said did you"
Daughter " Yes" whereupon she carried on benching her other entries.

Daughter won first place in class and the cup for best domestic entry in show.

Wow Pa. congratulations to your daughter. She is one creative lady and that teapot is simply delightful. The only problem is that it would be an absolute crying shame to cut it open to taste it. Is she taking commissions for afternoon teas at the big house on the hill? She could go into business with creations like that! Jolly well done!

Thanks Primrose, she has got a talent for cake baking.
The judge had to cut it open.

The show is not profit making and this time a donation was made to a Children's Hospice Service, the cake also went there.

Hadn't quite worked out how to retain the liquid since it was a bit larger than a normal teacake
