grass clippings as a mulch

Is it okay to earth up potatoes using grass clippings. I read it as an idea somewhere and wondered if anyone had tried it? I was worried about attracting slugs or it getting too warm or smelly. How deep would you put them on if you did use them? Many thanks, Helen

I use grass clippings as a mulch / biodegradeable fleece replacement, so sprinkle up to 1" deep.

No-diggers do I believe use them as the earthing up medium, but I do not know how.

I use grass clippings as a mulch for potatoes.
Earth up first, wait for it to rain and get a good soaking then fill the trench with grass clippings and anything else to hand. Compost, rotted manure etc. It all rots down and gets turned in when you harvest the spuds.
