How long is the efficacy of these lawn treatments supposed to last?
I found a 2/3 year old half used packet of Weed and Feed in the garage recently which I used yesterday as I didn,t want to waste it.
Can I expect it to still have some effect? Certainly the smell of it was still present.

The feed part will almost certainly be OK. If the weed doesn't it might just be that it is a bit early.

Dear Primrose, sorry i meant to answer this when you first posted the question. I have used lawn weed and feeds that customers have had for several years and they have all seemed to have worked very well. The only time there's a problem is if they have got damp, as they go into a solid lump, but that stops them being used anyway.

I think this question has led me to how to use Weed & Feed.
I have tried using it in the past with little to no success.

Now all becomes clear, for greater effectiveness I need to store until it is more mature.

Seriously, I just cant get lawn weed killers to work so as long as the lawn is green and short enough to all look like grass that has to do for us.

Yes I did find that it tended to congeal, which clogged up the holes in the spreader. Eventually I found that only putting a small amount in the container at a time, stirring it with a stick to break the granules down and opening the "sieve" holes slightly had the desired effect.
We've had 48 dry hours now followed by rain as prescribed so hope to see things starting to happen although I don't know how much effect it will have on all the moss.
