Looking round the garden today there is some early purple sprouting broccoli ready and the rhubarb has sent up quite a few new shoots about 9 inches long. I suppose it will all be spoiled by the forecast snow and frost over the weekend if I don't pick it ASAP.

There were still some autumn raspberries on but they didn't have much flavour.

I'm slightly concerned about how healthy my Autumn planted shallots look - the leaves (?) are already a good 20+ cm long. Autum planted garlic has a good 10-15 cm shoots. I'm also afraid it's all just rot. Not sure how to prevent it?

It is so mild it feels alien. I have little gems still growing, outer leaves a bit manky with rust & a bit of mildew but hearts are fine, although have far more wee slugs & snails than normal. And some unprotected rocket is having the time of it's life. I have cropped some Broad beans that just popped up from some pods I must have missed or had dried & split from my main summer sowing. My purpose grown over wintering ones are about a foot tall but a bit leggy so I expect they will succumb when winter does arrive, but will protect them & keep my fingers crossed.

Onions, garlic & shallots sound the same as Pawty's but they should be fine hopefully, but do wonder if they will get stressed having this fine weather then a cold snap & might bolt in late spring.

I was well later than normal for putting my overwintering Garlic, Shallots and Onion sets in but now, like others, I am concerned at the rate of growth. Although some garlic and shallots are lagging behind thankfully.

I had put plastic cloches over some onions to protect them but took them off after taking this picture.

my daffs in pots have flower buds appearing. not amused. I wanted them flowering next year, not now!!

The municiple daffs in the next village are fully open, but have quite short stems.

We put some grease balls on the bird table about 2 weeks ago the birds have been eating more bread than anything else but the grease balls are sprouting they have bright green shoots on them about two inches long shows how wet it's been

Evening Robo, would that class them as vegetarian grease balls, then....

Evening oldherbaceous ,I am not to sure but I would not fancy one for a snack
