Asked the same question last year, but always interested in what folk are doing for Xmas Dinner.

We are definitely going Turkey free & think it may be a nice piece of beef & hopefully a tasty chicken but that chicken is a challenge to find so still just a thought, might be ham. Thick something retro for starter, like a prawn cocktail, but will be more of a prawn plate. Vegetables will be what I harvest or have frozen but we have a bit of a tradition of having runner beans on Xmas Day so they're defiantly in with roast spuds & pumpkin, cauliflower cheese most likely, spiced pickled red cabbage - who knows?

Mr Westi will have Plum Duff & Custard & I'll opt for something chocolate. Dog will have most of the above, cats just the meat elements, but one will have cauliflower cheese too! We'll watch the Queens speech & toast her with some bubbly, then moan about what piggies we are while watching some bad movie - well one of us, Mr Westi will no doubt be snoring!

so far I've got a 5 bird roast (according to aldi, pork is a bird ) and some home grown potatoes and carrots

oh no, the price of bacon is going to soar with that

Take advantage quick folks,

this is the chance for all would be comedians to ham it up

For years now we have avoided turkey. I don't mind it as long as it isn't dry but no one else is fussy about it so it tends to get wasted.

We always get a two very large joints, one of beef and another of pork. These are carved at the table and straight on to the plate.

This year I don't mind what we have because its a Christmas the medics told me I probably wouldn't see.
Given the location of what I have I just intend enjoying still being able to eat in a normal way whatever is put on my plate.

The other thing I'm the only one to enjoy is Christmas pudding so I shall soak an individual one in brandy and set light to it

Fortunately, like me, my son in law is partial to a good bit of strong blue cheese, Stilton or Danish
Mrs Snip and I purchased a wide selection of cheeses having made a deliberate detour through Chedder Gorge recently

I have most of the family coming to me, plus a good friend. I don't have room for everyone in the family unfortunately.
As I am veggie, my mum will bring the resting turkey from her oven, plus pigs in blankets. I will do everyhting else....veggie roast, roasties and mash (family tradition), parnsips (homegrown) we have sprouts and broccoli, and I'll probably harvest some tuscan kale to add to that, plus roast carrots, redcurrant jelly (homegrown & made) then mince pies for pud. We don't go bonkers, as we are not big eaters, so there won't be all that tins of roses nonsese and endless snacks and sweets. oh and don't forget the mulled wine, and I may open a bottle or two of homemade wine! Damson is my favourite, there's a fairly sweet grape one from a few years ago that will go nicely I think!

Feel sorry for the poor buggers flooded out.

Absolute Catastrophe, couldn't think of anything worse & they won't be able to live in their homes for months. I've cleaned up after a flood before as a volunteer - the most outstanding memory is the stench! I do believe though this community will gel together & they will still get a Xmas - won't be the same as they were planning but I bet they will make some friends for life.
