Hi there

I'm new to the forum and have just started working on events for the Allotments Regeneration Initiative. We've got some training courses coming up soon for members of allotment associations that I thought might be of interest to you - or someone you know.

They are:

Finding Funds for Allotment Regeneration (York 9th June and Bristol 13th June)

Improving Allotment Access for people with disabilities and mental health needs (Bristol 14th June and York 7th July)

Managing Health and Safety and Conducting Risk Assessments on Allotments (York 14th July and Bristol 19th July)

We're also running a new course on 'Getting started in allotment regeneration' - dates to be confirmed. If we have enough attendees it will run on 18th May (next Thursday) in Bristol.

That all sounds wonderful until you try to find a vacant plot.

Thanks for reply about allotment training and availability of plots.

It's worth noting that if you've exhausted all other avenues such as local authority, local allotment associations, and getting on a waiting list for a plot, and if you can show your local authority that there is demand in your area, they have a statutory duty to provide a sufficient quantity of plots.

If local people feel there is a need for allotments which is not being met, they can get together a group of any six residents who are registered on the electoral roll and put their case to the local authority.
