Hi,

I am having a go at growing my own veg and have made a few beds from pieces of wood. I have a question regarding cabbages and cauliflowers. I read that you should not plant them in the same place year on year in case of root fly. Does this also apply to successional growing? Because i am limited for space i have grown just a few at a time, the idea being to space out the harvesting to give a longer cropping time - however i then wondered is it ok to plant the new plants in the same area as where the previous ones were harvested?

Hi GB,
The rotation is not primarily because of Cabbage Rootfly but the possibility of Club Root although any Rootfly would also hatch out there.
The Rotation is from season to season but you should not grow in exactly the same place but if you are exceedingly pressed for space then needs must.
