Holes in broad beans

What could be causing holes on the leaves of the broad beans I hadn't noticed till my son came yesterday and pointed them out to me.

When you say holes in the leaf do you mean notching around the leaf margin?
If it is notching around the leaf margins then the culprit is bound to be the bean and pea weevil. The Bean weevil is partial to the leaf and makes little or no difference to the crop. To me they are a nuisance but one you have to endure.
If you have clear holes and not notching around the leaf margins then there could be many culprits.
