Burning Issues of the Day

Those things that you wonder if you should do, or if something will happen.

Such as

Will my onion seed order arrive before Christmas so that, for the first time ever, I can try sowing Kelsae onions on Boxing day.

Will my car battery accept a charge so that I can get the car started or will I have to splash out on a new battery

Will I give up wondering about both of the above before the day is out and make a Victoria Sponge cake instead

:D

Morning Pa Snip, i would go for the making of the sponge cake, that's good comfort food, just incase the other two don't happen... :)

Will marmalade do (for sticking the marzipan onto the Christmas cake) or do I have to go to the shop specially for some apricot jam ?

And who cares anyway...it's only me and OH who likes it. (and he won't know if I don't tell him!).

hi Oldherbaceous

I like your thinking :)

Diane
Now that raises another burning issue,

Will my remaining stock of home made marmalade see me through until the new seasons Seville oranges arrive in the shops.

Diane, I love marmalade, not so keen on Apricot jam. I reckon it will be fine, so long as you pick out the peel bits....

Pa Snip. Get a new car battery...so you can go buy some more seeds if yours don't turn up...then make your yummy sponge... :)

My burning issue is, shall I just sit here larking about on my laptop until it's time to go to the hairdressers at 2.30pm, or... read another few chapters of my book...or do the housework and ironing?

Hi Elaine

Housework & iron, Hmm why do today what can be put off until tomorrow. If your heart isn't in doing the ironing concentration might lapse and result in a definite burning issue

Read the book whilst waiting at the hairdressers

Stay on the lappy, that way we might get to enjoy some more of your input :)

The trouble with that one Pa Snip, is, as far as housework is concerned, tomorrow never comes.....hate it. I can always find something better to do with my time than cleaning and tidying....now it really needs something doing.
I'm greedy with my books, as I read them so quickly...and I have another four waiting.....I cannot put them down once I start.
No chance of reading at the hairdressers, as we always have too much of a good giggle!

I reckon I'll just keep on larking about on here then.....

tomorrow never comes

Not enough time to watch the entire film between now and hairdressing appointment

Sunday 21st Dec

Cloudy looking start to the day.

Wondering if I should get up the plot early to dig the Christmas dinner veggies or leave it another day or two so they are fresher on the day

Moaning (in moderation) is one of life's little pleasures, I've always found.

Todays issue was going to be should I bake and fill a Victoria sponge cake with buttercream or whipped fresh cream and jam.

I say was because the sponge cake turned out a disaster, my first attempt and it's supposed to be easy :) .

The issue now is shall I attempt another or persuade Ma Snip to make one.
The hens aren't laying eggs that much at present for me to waste them.

I'd sow some of he packet at least MW, comparison test.

One absolutely useless thing sprang into my mind though, why isn't there a variety of shallot named Jimmy Wheeler

(have to be over a certain age to understand that one :D )

Shall I waste money ordering new varieties of vegetable seed from the latest catalogue or just be sensible and use up what' s left first in my existing seed packets?
