Have any member grown or eaten daylia yams?, I had never heard of them till my son mentioned this week that he was growing them, he got the seed from James Wong seeds.
I have grown daylia flowers for years are the yams the same tubers as the flowers?.

Looking at the listings on Suttons (couldn't get his site to load) they are the standard Dahlias we know and love.

I'm surprised. I have imagined them to be toxic for some reason, but I seem to remember reading the Dutch were forced to eat tulip bulbs during WWI2 when food was very short, so perhaps some of these bulbs and tubers are edible, even though I've Inever known of anybody eating them.

I grew dahlias for edible tubers last year and mentioned it somewhere on here. They made lovely rostis and my partner really enjoyed them without knowing what they were.
We didn't suffer any ill effects and I'm growing them again from saved tubers. They are a nice selection of flowers and I will definitely eat a few of the tubers again this year. James Wong did say that the cactus dahlias seem to have the largest, sweetest/best flavoured tubers but other people have recommended other varieties as being their favourites.
