I had a new recipe for Asparagus, puff pastry, roast ham and cream cheese last week end from the Good Food magazine, and I went shopping for fresh English asparagus, only to find that there is none available. Only some from Peru. I asked a member of staff from Waitrose and Tesco and they both said that, because we have had a bad spring, there had been a problem with English Asparagus. Has anyone else had this problem.

By the way they were fabulous.

Sounds lovely. I bought myself an asparagus steamer last week, haven't used it yet. Currently wondering what my first recipe should be. Any ideas?

I will try and find the recipe and post it for you. I am sure if there is no asparagus you could use tender stem broc.
