Just had to apply a dollop of stockholm tar to a chicken's foot - what a strong smell. But I like it. Reminds me of creosote.

Dear Diane, may i ask the reason for the stockholm tar?

Isn't that extracted from ancient pine stumps found in peat or marshes?
Young creosote, compared to that from coal.

It's to treat a bad cut on the upper surface of the hen's foot. I've cleaned the cut...and coated the wound with the stockholm tar. It forms a "crust" and prevents the hen pecking it (tastes foul)

and gives the tissue time to heal. Also used to treat the hoofs of horses.

Dear Diane, i was a little worried you were practicing the old tar and feather torture, for a certain notorious forum member.
