The frustrations of a small growing area

At this time of year I start suffering my usual frustration of getting out my seed packets or buying a few new varieties and wishing I had the space in our smallish garden to grow everything I would like to. I've already taken over 2 of the three borders in the front garden for soft fruit, and commandeered one back garden border for tomatoes and climbing beans in addition to the small vegetable patch. Does anybody have any imaginative ideas how I can squeeze more into a pint pot without digging up the whole lawn?
I should add that I already grow things closer together than generally recommended because I ensure the soil is always kept well enriched with humous of some kind.

A friend of mine grows bean, potatoes and carrots in pots in her small yard. That's what's inspired me as round here there's a huge waiting list for allotments.
