Peas

Last year I lost most of my pea crop to the squirrels. They were grown with pea sticks and covered in netting but the little 'b's managed to pull the pegs out holding the netting down and bricks.
If I grow them under enviromesh this year will it prevent pollenation?
At the moment I have them in pots in the greenhouse but they are getting their long curly bits and will need planting out soon. The variety is Hurst Green shaft.
We also have problems with badgers getting to them as well.
Any other suggestions that are squirrel proof would be very welcome.
Thanks.
Beryl.
