Now that's what I call a blocked road!

This massive pine was felled by last Wednesday's storm. Nearly a week later it's still blocking one of the lanes out of the village. Fortunately there's another road which is only half a mile longer.

At least it will be a lot easier to put the Christmas decorations on. :)

it's not a fir tree, is it? Looks more like cupressus or something like that. Would it provide fire wood? If so, it will keep somebody warm for a bit!

A huge old beech tree was bought down by a recent storm in our local park recently. The parish council called in a tree surgeon to chop it up and put out word that local residents could come and help themselves to logs. Within a very short time men with wheelbarrows were appearing from all over the place,
. Some of the logs were huge and it seemed a shame just to dry and burn them. Anybody with a bent for wood carving would probably have been delighted to get their hands on such quality wood.
