I'm beginning to wonder if some of our TV personalities are economising on their heating bills and growing beards to keep themselves warm!.
Firstly we had Jeremy Paxman, then Gareth Malone (from The Choir) and last night on the Food & Farm programme I noticed that Nigel Slater has now grown one. Who will be next I wonder? I'm selling my shares in Gillette before they drop through the basement floor!

I must admit, i have never grown a beard. I think i got put off as a boy, as i knew an old fellow with a very long beard, nothing wrong with that i know, but the beard was always covered with his meals.

So it's smooth for me...

Is this about to get silly?

I had a small beard most of my adult life and have always been hampered with the idea I couldn't be trusted. Because of a beard ?

I suspect that's because there have been a number of notorious characters in history who in the past have always been portrayed with a beard and the myth just seems to live on, like a lot of old country myths and tales. My granny always used to say to me "Never trust a man with thin lips. He will always be mean!" Now I ask you ..........! She also had her favourite saying about ladies who wore red hats, but I won't repeat that one....!

I have a beard. I'm actually not that keen on it, but it hides a scar. It's warm in the winter, sure, but a bit stuffy in the summer. If I sit still for long enough, small birds fly down and pick bits of dinner out of it.

I'm the same, both beard and trash hide scars that get cut when I shave so it was easier too grow around the area. I've had this growth so long now that shaving it off would be like cutting my ears off.

Also, I'm a slap head, a put a wig on once, just for fun. I couldn't breath, at the risk of exaggerating I panicked.

My granny also told me her saying about red hats... and it involves the nether regions...

No1 son grew a moustache and beard for movember last year and liked it so much he kept it. Other half grew a beard some years ago, didn't take him long as he's a two shave a day man. kept it over winter, got fed up with it itching and shaved it off in spring.

Does this look like a dodgy bloke ? Would you buy a car from me ?

my dad and his dad have always had full bushy beards (once my dad cut his extra short, he looked weird!) my youngest brother (25) has a lovely orange one at the moment, but he is shaving it off for a casting (acting) tomorrow!

My work is weird with all these chaps sporting growth for our MOvember charity! Doesn't half change the look of people and how the colour is quite often very different to their hair colour!

I will ask them next week if it is warmer but some are a bit sparse so maybe not!

Yes, some faces end up with three different colours of hair, brown/black, red and grey, which looks very strange. Genes do some very strange things when it comes to hair.

Thirty-four years behind a beard, just can't understand why so many blokes spend so much time and money on removing hair!

Mine gets done with my hair using electric clippers in the toolshed, hoover up the mess, job done. Ikea shaving mirtor on its own little stand and a good outdoor quslity fluorescent light.
