Just got an e-mail from T & M offering these! (Would put link on but haven't a clue how & after years trying to change my profile pic don't think I want to invest in the learning!)

In their pic doesn't seem much of a yield in spuds but toms look OK. Obviously new & very expensive but possibly able to graft your own - if that's how they did it. Certainly good use of space in small gardens & amount of protection when the blight alert comes but what do you guys & girls think?

Novel idea Westie, but not for me I don't think the cost would warrant only a few spuds. Wouldn't it disturb the roots of the tomatoes when harvesting the spuds?

It's wise policy to avoid anything promoted as "another major horticultural breakthrough", especially from T&M.

With the newspapers, Express yesterday and the Mail today giving them wide coverage they certainly will Westie.

This will probably go down a storm with the bijou gardeners in the posh areas of London where they're probably used to paying £15 for a few fancy snow peas from Fortnum & Mason, but I doubt whether any level headed gardener would pay for something like this when they can save the seeds from their tomato plants for nothing and pay a fraction of this price for ordinary seed potatoes. I presume you would have to wait until you'd harvested all your tomatoes before you could even contemplate digging up the plant to get at your potatoes so not a very practical idea.

I'm intrigued to see in the growing instructions given on their web site that it should be planted with the graft union below soil level. This suggests to me that the tomato is effectively to root and grow on its own roots, eventually leaving the potato to its own devices. I guess this overcomes the problem of potatoes going dormant. I can assume that it is extremely demanding of feed, and particularly water. It's just as well that fertiliser is supplied. I would be intrigued to know more about how it all fits together. But at £15 a pop, I'll let someone else have a go. Good old T&M, always thinking up new ways to separate fools from their money.
