Watching the first episode of Professor Brian Cox's Science Brittanica I thought it rather ironic that in the lab where the GM potatoes were being modified the variety shown was Lady Balfour.

I noticed that Colin they probably thought it was an intellectual joke that no one else would pick up on.

I admit, I had to look it up!

anyway, on a side note, I cannot stand Prof. Cox, he just annoys me intensely. (my mother would say 'I'm sure he speaks very highly of you too!')

I admire Brian very much, and I particularly respect what he's doing for the promotion of the understanding of science. But I cannot deny that there is something about him that does irritate me ever so slightly.
Allotment, but little achieved.

He should do more horticulture - his opinion on moon planting would be fun.

Regardless of which subject he is talking about, he makes it interesting and easy to understand.
Being easy on the eye makes a change from the dusty old scientists too.

I'm afraid to say that I've never watched any program he's done
I've even had too much Attenborough... I shall probably be hung, drawn and quartered now.
